PS4 v Xbox One: Who Will Reign

This entry was posted on Tuesday, July 2nd, 2013 and is filed under Latest News.

As the start of June approached, the anticipation for the annual video game conference E3 in Los Angeles grew. With the PlayStation 4 and new Xbox yet to be revealed, we seemed to be gearing up to see one of the most exciting console battles in history and we were right. On June 11th the E3 exhibition opened up it’s doors to thousands of dedicated and professional gamers and they were in for a day they would never forget.

After a disappointing no-show in February at the Sony event, the PlayStation 4 was finally revealed. With a whole host of new games, second-screen feature and improved graphics and speed, the slick designed console is a gamers dream.

Sony’s promotional video production team has clearly been very busy working on content for the website, which has definitely caught our attention. The PlayStation website boasts an array of product videos for new games so you can see in-game footage as well as screen shots of some of the most impressive graphics ever seen. People tuning in to watch the web video will see a variety of software from #driveclub to Killzone: Shadow Fall and Don’t Starve.

At the lower of the two prices coming in at £349, the console really is giving the new Xbox One a run for it’s money. Coming with eight x86-64 cores as well as a 1.84 TFLOPS graphic processor with 8GB of GDDR5 memory, this is truly one of the most exciting releases in gaming history.

At the E3 conference, just feet away from Sony was Microsoft unveiling their latest release the Xbox One. Shaped like an old video player, the design shows a strong and powerful machine that has a few surprises up it’s sleeve. On the website, video has been produced to show the console from all angles so you can get a true feel for the design. The product video features the usual effects, but what has really caught our eye is the corporate video production for other aspects of the console such as an introduction from the main man himself, Bill Gates.

What it really comes down to is the games and only true gamers will decide which console by focusing on the exclusive games available. Xbox One has Halo 5 and Quantum Break, whereas PlayStation 4 has Deep Down and The Order: 1886, all of which look to feature incredible graphics for an immense experience.

We’re not entirely sure who will come out on top, as there has already been controversy with Xbox One announcing that gamers would have to pay to play used games and then scrapping the idea after outrage erupted. Before release dates towards the end of the year there will be more announcements and footage for us to get excited about before we finally make our decision.
