Now TV

Now TV is the new ‘on demand’ web video service from Sky, but it isn’t Sky?

Now TV is online service which allows you to watch programmes, films and sport, and the great thing about it is you don’t need to be a Sky subscriber to use it.

Customers who don’t have Sky will be able to access content on a pay-as-you-go or contract basis, which is great. This is why even though it is Sky’s it isn’t under the name of Sky – just ‘Powered by Sky’.

Now TV could be real competition for Netflix and LoveFilm, as Sky has access to a lot more TV and films than Netflix and LoveFilm. So if Now TV offers up streaming of most of their vast catalogue, it could really bring in the customers.

You will be able to use the service on your phone, tablet and computer, which means you will be able to get it on your TV if you so choose to hook them up.

Whether or not it will come as an app to be downloaded on Internet connected TV’s or on connected consoles is yet to be seen.

But if the price is good, will it take some customers away from the normal Sky subscription to their cheaper cousin?

So prices will be a real make or break of this. Sky have also got Sky Anytime, which allows Sky subscribers so watch on the go on their devices. But this could be a complete new ball game if the price is right.

Expect Now TV to be launched this summer, we wait with bated breath.
