Instagram Catches the Video HypeThis entry was posted on Wednesday, June 26th, 2013 and is filed under Latest News.
It took them long enough, but just days ago Instagram released an update which included the option to post video footage as well as standard pictures. Within the first 8 hours it was reported that over a years worth of footage had been uploaded to the social media feed. However, with Vine having already caught on with a variety of celebrities, were Instagram just too late?
Owned by Facebook, Instagram has become a hit world-wide and has become a tool used by businesses and celebrities as well as every day people. Used by 130 million people a month, it has been put under pressure recently by other apps such as Vine and Snapchat. The battle is now on to be the most downloaded video sharing app and it looks as though Instagram will eventually reign.
In comparison to Vine’s six second video capacity, with Instagram you are able to load between three and fifteen seconds worth of footage. Users are also able to cut and edit the video with effects to make it unique. Celebrities are jumping onto the bandwagon left, right and centre with the likes of Madonna and Example already uploading footage for their followers.
However, there are some aspects which aren’t too great including it’s automatic loading. This may sound great that you don’t even have to lift a finger, however it can slow down the scrolling function and can actually be quite annoying when you aren’t in the mood to pay attention to videos.
As the errors are ironed out with every update, we can only expect Instagram to become a solid part of our social lives.
